About ICAR IARI Assistant Preliminary Exam

Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern of the written exam is as follows:-

  • The written test will be conducted online.
  • The exam will consist of a maximum of 100 questions.
  • The exam will consist of a maximum of 200 marks.
  • The duration of the exam will be 1.00 hours (1 hour 20 minutes for eligible candidates for writer).
  • The questions will be set in both English and Hindi except for English comprehension.

The syllabus of the Test broadly covers the following topics:-

General Intelligence and Reasoning: It will consist of questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component includes questions on Similarities, Similarities and Differences, Space Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetic Reasoning and Pictorial Classification, Arithmetic Number Series, Non- can be. Verbal Series, Coding & Decoding, Statement Conclusion, Jurisdictional Reasoning etc. The topics are Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Picture Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Pictorial Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Picture Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & De-coding, Numerical Operations, Symbols Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagram, Drawing Inference, Punch Hole/Pattern- Folding and Un-folding, Figure Pattern- Folding and Completion, Indexing, Address Matching, Date and City Matching, Center of Code/Roll Number Classification, Small and Capital Letter/Number Coding, Decoding and Classification, Embedded Figures, Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence.

general awareness: The questions in this component will be aimed at testing the general awareness of the candidates about the environment around them and its application in society. The questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries, especially those related to history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy and scientific research.

Quantitative Aptitude: The questions will be designed to test the candidate’s ability to number and make proper use of numbers. The scope of the test will be Integer, Decimal, Fraction and Relationship between Numbers, Calculation of Percentage. Ratio and Proportion, Square Root, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Combine, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Basic Algebraic Identities of School Algebra and Elementary Serds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various Types of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, Tangents, Angles subtended by chords of a circle, Common tangents of two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilateral, Regular polygon, Circle, Right prism, Right circular cone , Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemisphere, Rectangular Parallelogram, Regular Right Pyramid with Triangular or Square Base, Trigonometric Ratios, Degree and Radian Measurements, Standard Identities, Complementary Angles, Height and Distance, Histogram, Frequency Polygon, Bar Diagram and Pie Chart.

The questions in Part A, B, and D will be of the level corresponding to the essential qualification ie. Graduation in Part-C and Question 10. will be ofthstandard level.

About ICAR IARI Assistant Main Exam

Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern of the written exam is as follows:-

  • The Main Examination (Paper – I) will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Paper – I of Main Examination will be conducted in online mode and Paper – II of Main Examination will be conducted in offline mode.
  • The questions in the Main Examination (Paper-I) except for English Comprehension will be set in both English and Hindi.
  • The duration of Paper I will be 2 hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for candidates eligible to scribe) and 1 hour for Paper II (1 hour and 20 minutes for candidates eligible to scribe).
  • 1/3 . There will be negative marking ofthird For each wrong answer in Paper – I of the Main Examination.
  • In Paper-II of the Main Examination, there will be an option to answer the entire paper in Hindi or in English.

  • English Language and Comprehension: The questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate’s comprehension and knowledge of English Language and will be based on Spot Error, Fill in 21 Blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Detection of Spelled/Misspelled Words, Idioms and Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of sentences, Active/passive voice of verbs, Conversion to direct/indirect statement, Shuffle parts of sentence, Shuffle of sentences in a passage, Close passage and Comprehension passage.

Paper II

The questions in Paper-II (Writing Essay / Summary / Letter / Application etc.) will be of graduation level.

About ICAR IARI Assistant Skill Test

  1. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) will be conducted, consisting of three modules:
    1. word processing,
    2. spread sheet and
    3. Slide construction.
  2. The duration of each module will be 15 minutes. These modules will be operated one after the other.
  3. CPT will be conducted for this purpose in the manner prescribed by ICAR. CPT is qualifying in nature and it will be mandatory to qualify in all the three modules.
  4. No relaxation from CPT is allowed for any category of PWD candidates. PWD candidates who are eligible to scribe as per the instructions of the examination will be given additional compensatory time of 5 (five) minutes in the CPT. Only those VH candidates who opt for scribe in the written test will be provided a passing reader at the time of CPT.
  5. Detailed instructions regarding CPT will be provided by IARI to the eligible candidates.
